Configure Office 365 Tenant – Upgrade Policy Teams Only

If the upgrade mode cannot be saved in the Teams Admin Center. The scenario can be checked via Powershell, for this we create a Microsoft Teams Powershell.

Import-Module MicrosoftTeams
$cred = Get-Credential
$session=New-CsOnlineSession -Credential $cred
Import-PSSession $session -AllowClobber

PS C:\> Get-CsTenant | Select TeamsUpgradeEffectivemode


The mode can be changed as follows:

PS C:\> Grant-CsTeamsUpgradePolicy -PolicyName UpgradeToTeams -Global

If you get the following error message, you should check the DNS entries.

This organization cannot be upgraded to TeamsOnly at the tenant level because there is an on-premise deployment of Skype for Business detected in 1 or more of it sip domains, Users can be individually upgraded to TeamsOnly using either Move-CsUser (if the user has an on-premises Skype for Business account) or Grant-CsTeamsUpgradePolicy (if the user is homed in Skype for Business online).
