Microsoft Teams federation to skype consumer/private

In the following article I describe the configuration of the Skype Consumer Federation.

Basically, the function can be activated in the Teams Admin Center.

The global user policy also allows access.

PS C:\> Get-CsExternalAccessPolicy

Identity : Global
Description :
EnableFederationAccess : True
EnableXmppAccess : False
EnablePublicCloudAccess : True
EnablePublicCloudAudioVideoAccess : True
EnableOutsideAccess : True
EnableAcsFederationAccess : True

Technically, however, you have to pay attention to something more. If you dig through the Technet (https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/microsoftteams/manage-external-access#communicate-with-skype-users-in-preview), you will eventually come across the following article:

https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/microsoftteams/manage-external-access#communicate-with-skype-users-in-preview

For the federation with Skype Consumer to work at all, the following SRV record must be set up.

_sipfederationtls.contoso.com.

Service: sipfederationtls
Protocol: TCP
Priority: 100
Weight: 1
Port: 5061
Target: sipfed.online.lync.com

Despite meeting all the requirements, the federation to Skype Consumer still does not work. So we need to look a little deeper technically. The activation status can be checked in the Teams Online PowerShell, but we need the tenant ID.

PS C:\> Get-CsTenant | Select-Object DisplayName, TenantID

DisplayName TenantId

Per domain we see the status PendingEnabled, unfortunately this status has been visible for a few days already, so I opened a Microsoft ticket. The feedback is currently still pending.

The activation of the individual services is done via the following command. Individual providers can be omitted.

Set-CsTenantPublicProvider -Tenant "9b106fc7-11db-432a-bb8a-XXXXXXXXXX" -Provider "WindowsLive","AOL","Yahoo"

When the individual providers are disabled, the status looks like this.</div>When the individual providers are disabled, the status looks like this.

Set-CsTenantPublicProvider -Tenant "9b106fc7-11db-432a-bb8a-XXXXXXXXXX" -Provider ""

Update 17.02.2021:

The status PendingEnabled still remains despite function in Teams Client. The entire replication has now taken 48 hours. Microsoft Support therefore did not have to do anything.
